I shared this “I Have A Runner’s Body” post last night on my instagram but I wanted to share the message here as well.
I believe that together we are changing the way that we look at our bodies and helping to get rid of that stone age idea that to be a runner you must have one very specific body type!

You know what, while I’m at it, here’s an honest moment. My hubby is really sweet, and will take pictures of me while I’m running for my posts, because he knows that it’s important to me. My initial reaction to this picture was to delete it. I’m making a weird face, my flabby skin and jiggly body fat are all over the damn place, and I’m pretty sure I will forever have loose skin hanging on my thighs (hello 100 lbs+ weight loss). And as I looked at this picture, my mind went to that dark place, my own inner bully. I took another picture while standing still to show myself that I didn’t really look that “bad.” I wanted to make a point to myself, that not every angle in motion is flattering, yet all I could think was: when will my body ever show the hundreds of miles I’ve run? The 5:30 am gym sessions? The hours of weightlifting? The countless pizza slices, ice cream cones, the plethora of goodies at the office and lunch dates with my coworkers skipped? When will I “look” like a runner? Look as healthy as I know I am? And as I spiraled momentarily in that negativity, something else dawned on me. That’s a picture of me coming over the crest of a 500 foot climb, that I crushed. That’s a picture of me rocking a sports bra on a hot summer day because I’m running a tough trail like a badass, because I am a runner. That’s a picture of me getting stronger and getting closer to racing in Catalina. That’s a picture of pure freedom and momentum, flight. I don’t give this strong body enough credit, especially when it’s deserved. So, here’s a shout out to all you badass babes out there, crushing goals, pushing limits and recreating beauty standards, and finding self acceptance. I look up to you……
