I am a sucker for quotes, memorable sayings and any good bits of advice that are one sentence or less. While on a 20 miler a couple of weeks ago with a good friend she told me that before she runs a marathon she calms any pre-race jitters by telling herself – this is what we do – we run. The more I thought about this little bit of advice the more I LOVED it. So this past weekend while running a hilly 10-miler I calmed my nerves during the race by powering up each and every hill and remembering these simple words “it’s what we do” Even thinking about the phrase now makes me smile :0) Running – It’s what we do. Races – It’s what we do. Hills – It’s what we do. Marathons – It’s what we do.
